Creating The Future You Hope

Where am I going, and how am I going to get there? These are the two questions that we ask the most in life when we find ourselves struggling with our lot-in-life. Take a look at this perspective that creates freedom and joy on your journey, your life, that brings you to the future that you are creating.

Life questions may be calling you. You might be wondering about your purpose. You may feel out of place, disconnected, just a little out of sync. You might want clarity; to find the quietness in your mind. That elusive quality where time loses all its significance. You may not even know what you're looking for, but in your skin you 're sitting there and you know something makes you uncomfortable.

Well, I'm here to tell you it's all right. It's not unusual, it's very normal. The bigger questions about life and the role you want to play in it are the big questions! Important questions, please! Not asking them, and seeking your own answers, would resign you to the existence of numbness, and one day, perhaps, regret it. But it doesn't have to be like that. It's never too late, there's no deadline.

The journey itself could be a tremendous reward. Also don't be fooled. It is not easy to pursue worthy goals and self-discovery. There will be a lot of hard times, inner soul searching, periods of enormous movement and change, periods of stagnation and perhaps even despair. There will be times when you think you've found the groove you've always been looking for, and then there will be times when you feel like you don't have any hope of finding your place in the world. And it's normal.

Anyone experiencing life will encounter variations in questions related to their values that will challenge them at life's crossroads. Sometimes we listen to these inner callings, but sometimes external forces push these inner callings deep into the mud to our sense of security in the world. Instead, we 're afraid of change or focus on the negatives or "what if" scenarios. So we're playing it safe while ignoring our inner calling.

We 're all searching for "that career" which will reward us in the way we need reward. It could be money for some. For others, prestige, recognition, and yet someone else, it's just the fact that they get to "do what they love to do." Everyone's going to have a unique journey to discover. The journey is to be made intentionally or unintentionally. It'll be confused and painful, or it can be enlightened by your own self-awareness. Don't get so focused on the goal that you don't have the full experience of your journey. It's such a critical journey.

During your journey, your experiences will give you so many valuable clues about yourself. Who are you? What makes you thrive. What's putting you to sleep. The kind of people that you like to work with. The environments that you prefer. All these experiences and many more specific pieces that are relevant to you, your profession, your passion, your skills and your personality. They can all be incorporated into your goal.

You, your life, your values, your beliefs, and many other things, are going to change. So keep on dreaming, keep looking at the goal. But, do this with your journey's knowledge and understanding. If it changes, make adjustments to your navigation system to your goal. You will learn so much about the experiences of your life and the decisions and their consequences. Allow yourself to take this journey, without knowing when it will end or where it will take you. Get comfortable with not knowing about it. Keep on looking. Don't be afraid to take the next step. That's exactly what I have to challenge each day.
